WHY POST TENSIONING IN YOUR STRUCTURES?

There are many benefits to be gained by adopting a post tensioned approach to construction including flexibility of design, faster construction program and lower material costs.

Maximum Column Free Space, Thinner Slabs & Faster Construction Cycle

While for commercial building space and light can be maximized by construction of large column free spaces. A faster construction program and lower construction material cost result from reduced quantities of concrete and steel being needed for the super structure, but post tensioning can also significantly reduce the amount of ground work required

Low Maintenance Cost

Over the longer term, post tensioned structures attract lower maintenance costs. Take a ware house floor slab, for example. A PT solution will deliver fewer joints and thus reduced joint maintenance as well as long term durability.

Eco-Friendly and Sustainable

The use of post-tensioning promotes as more environmentally friendly approach to construction. In the first place post tensioned structure feature less construction materials steel reinforcement, concrete and thus create fewer carbon emission in terms of production and transportation. The actual construction process can also be environmentally sensitive.

YOUR SAVINGS...!!!

Relative to the RC-design, the PT concrete design provided a total reduction of 23inch (584mm) in structural depth over the height of the building. If we assume that the typical floor to floor height of a building is 9.7ft (3m), it can be extrapolated that a PT building would allow an extra floor (relative to RC building) for every 50 stores, with no increase in building height. If building height is restricted, as is in many cities, this can allow for an almost 2.5 % increase in rentable space

Because the PT option reduces the total building height by almost 2.5%, it directly reduces the amount of cladding required. In a commercial or a residential building reduction in the volume of the building also reduce the load on the heating and air conditioning units, directly reducing the yearly operating costs for the building

THE BEST ALTERNATIVE

Post tensioning has the potential to impact the push towards sustainable construction As illustrated in the example, PT building use about 20 % less concrete and25% to 40% less steel than similar RC buildings. This translates into thinner floor, lower floor to floor height and overall reduction in higher of the buildings. The reducing the volume of the space that needs to be heated during the winter and air conditioned during the summer
